Hi! I am Carlos J. Martinez. I serve you as the Public Defender of the 11th Judicial Circuit, the largest and busiest of Florida’s 20 judicial circuits. I lead an office staffed by nearly 230 attorneys plus investigators, social workers, secretaries and paralegals dedicated to ensuring equal justice under the law for the 65,000 clients we serve each year. We have hired a diverse legal team of outstanding men and women who are committed to providing high quality representation to those who face the loss of life or liberty and are unable to afford counsel. To us, serving our clients is a calling. Together we have built on a tradition of excellence in and out of the courtroom, through extensive community service.
I have extensive defender management experience, and with my leadership team, we work diligently to turn significant challenges into opportunities for improvement. My team and I do our very best every day to breathe life into the promise of equal justice under the law and to improve our community.
